Company History
R.S. Gamble & Son Limited was established in 1897 by Robert Samuel Gamble as commission merchants and ships agents. He was later joined by his son William, who took over the business when he died in 1928. R.S. Gamble is one of the pioneers of shipping in Jamaica and will continue to be a leader.
Before the days of diesel we were agents for vessels calling for bunker at the coaling station in Port Royal.
In the early 1900’s we were wharf operators of one of the old Kingston finger piers and received ships of the Hamburg America Line.
R.S. Gamble (1998) Limited acquired the assets of the 100 year old company R.S. Gamble & Son Limited and is pleased to have taken over all businesses formerly handled by them.
We operate as ship agents and marine insurance claim settling agents representing many of the most respected companies in the international insurance arena.
We are Lloyd’s Agent in Jamaica, other principals include: the International Underwriters Association of London, W.K. Webster and the United States Salvage Association, Swedish Club, plus a range of other European and Far Eastern Insurance companies
